League side Shabana is planning a one-week pre-season tour of Tanzania as part
of the 2026/27 season.
The club’s
Secretary General, Elizaphan Kerama, said they have lined up friendly matches
against three top teams in the Tanzania Premier League.
Speaking to
the Star, Kerama said they have lined up friendly matches against Azam FC,
Coastal Union, and Pamba Jiji FC.
“We are
planning to visit Mwanza, the home of Pamba Jiji, because they were here last
year for Shabana Day celebrations. We are still in talks with Azam and Coastal
Union on the venue for our games,” said the SG.
Pamba Jiji
coach Francis Baraza says they are ready to host the Glamour Boys for a pre-season.
Last year,
the club visited Mbale, Uganda, for their pre-season.
He said players
started to report back for their pre-season training on Tuesday at their
Cardinal Otunga Senior School, Mosocho training base.
“Immediately
they report, they will undergo a thorough medical check-up at Oasis Hospital in
Kisii town, which is our medical partner, before they embark on intense
preparations,” said Kerama.
He said they
are at an advanced stage in their negotiations with a new head coach.
“At the
moment, we have already agreed a deal with a strength and conditioning trainer.
The negotiations with the head coach are ongoing, and we expect to unveil the
entire technical bench before we start our pre-season,” added Kerama.
Kerama
further noted that the club’s key players have already renewed their contracts.
“There is no
need to panic. We have already tied down our key players for next season. We
are working, and the information will be made public at the right time,” he
revealed.
He noted
that the club will part ways with 15 players and sign 10 new players. Already,
defender Andrew Omondi, aka Awiko, has joined Nairobi United.
“We are in the process of working on the
incoming players who will be assessed by the technical bench before we make
commitments. We want to have a squad that can challenge for the Sportpesa
League title next year,” Kerama added.
The club he added is in talks with a hydration and financial institution partner to come on board and support the Glamour Boys. “We want more partners to come on board and support the team,” Kerama appealed.
