Kabati Youth's Suleiman Haji has attributed his team's poor performance in the National Super League (NSL) to their inability to convert chances.

After their 1-0 loss to Fortune Sacco, Haji called for patience, despite the team’s frustrating nine-game winless streak. Collins Mwangi scored the only goal in the Mt. Kenya derby on Saturday.

Kabati Youth are still winless in the second-tier league since their promotion.

“We are working on our attack. There will be changes in the upcoming games. We created chances against Fortune Sacco, but we didn’t take them,” Haji said.

Midfielder Kevin Mwangi agreed, adding: “We’ve improved, but our main challenge is scoring. We’ll get it right soon. The league is a marathon, and all is not lost.”

Kabati Youth remains at the bottom of the table with four points, while Fortune Sacco moved up to eighth with 12 points.

Fortune Sacco coach Alpha Muchiri expressed relief after the win: “It was a must-win for us, especially since we hadn’t won at home this season. The players followed the instructions from start to finish.”

Elsewhere, Mombasa United ended Equity Bank’s unbeaten run with a 2-0 win at Serani Sports Ground. Former Shabana forward Nehemiah Onchiri continued his fine form, scoring both goals for Mombasa United.

Nairobi City Stars earned their third win of the season, defeating hosts Mwatate United 2-0, while Talanta FC came from behind to beat newcomers Soy United 2-1.

Brian Lusamukha and Alex Kipruto scored for Talanta, with Soy United’s Alred Ratolo finding the net.

The Michael Olunga Foundation Academy (MOFA), coached by Charles Warinda, held hosts Naivas to a goalless draw at the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) in Ngong.
