Migori Youth has maintained their 100 per cent start in the National Super League (NSL) season.

Migori Youth leads the NSL log with 12 points after four rounds of games, after their 1-0 win over Mully Children's Family (MCF) over the weekend. Elvis Wafula scored the lone goal for the NSL regulars.

The Migori-based team coached by Sammy Otulo is followed in second place by Naivas FC. The retailers have 10 points from four games, while Kibera Black Stars sits third with nine points, and Mombasa United fourth with nine points.

Mombasa United's unbeaten run ended on Sunday when they succumbed to a 2-0 loss against 4K FC at Moi Stadium, Embu.

Gucha FC, under the tutelage of coach Sammy Okoth, had a dream debut on Saturday after edging Vihiga United 2-1 at Awendo Green Stadium in Migori.

Former Shabana forward Vincent Nyabuto grabbed a brace for the debutants while Alex Imbusia scored Vihiga United's consolation.

Okoth, who previously guided Shabana to the top-tier league, said he was happy with the winning start.

"Once we took the lead, the players settled well. The game was an eye-opener for them, and we have to pick from there," said Okoth.

He hailed two-goal hero Nyabuto. "I was with Nyabuto at Shabana. He is a dependable player and I'm happy for him," added Okoth.

Other debutants, Soy United, battled to a barren draw with Kisumu All Stars at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Soy United coach Jeffers Odongo said:

"We expected to win the game, but we are satisfied with it. We want to build from there in our upcoming games. We failed to utilize our chances, but we will work on it before we face Luanda Villa on Thursday."

Soy United will host Luanda Villa at Eldoret Showground. "Our target is to win all our home games. We are going to attack Luanda Villa from the word go," said Odongo.

NSL returnees Mwatate United, newbies Kabati Youth, Kisumu All Stars, Darajani Gogo, Vihiga United, have yet to record a win after four games.

Mwatate United is courting former Administration Police Service (APS) Bomet coach Evans Mafuta to take over as head coach.

Mafula helped APS qualify for the top-tier league for the first time. He was later sent packing alongside head coach Michael Nam.

Gucha Stars and Soy United made their league bow over the weekend. Their promotion to the second-tier league was confirmed when the league had already kicked off.
