Barcelona Ladies’ forward, Calta Nasambu, targets a spot in the Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Star team to Spain.

The top players (two boys and two girls) from each region will make the team.

The All Star will tour Spain on a 10-day training camp where aboy and a girl will be scouted to join Spanish youth teams.

“My target is to make the All-Star team. I believe going to Spain will help me hone my skills and become a better striker,” Nasambu noted.

She emerged as the top scorer at the Chapa Dimba Central region finals with four goals from two matches.

A brace on Sunday helped Barcelona to a 5-0 win over newcomers St. Joseph Secondary at the Wang’uru Stadium.

Floise Matendechere, captain Milcah Wambui and Naomi Masinde contributed a goal each.

Nasambu drew inspiration from their team manager, Jane ‘Neymar’ Njeri, whom she regards as her guiding light. “Njeri sparked my passion for football. As a striker, she mentors me on refining my craft. She’s the heartbeat of our team,” she noted.

Njeri won the top scorer award in season two of the regional tournament with six goals. She made the All-Star team to Spain.

The top scorer award came with Sh30,000 which Njeri promised to hand to her supportive mother.

“She’s young, still honing her skills. Even when chances slip by, I nurture her confidence. I’m certain she’ll earn her spot in the All-Star lineup,” said Nasambu’s coach Emman Wafula.

Meanwhile, Lysa FC secured their spot in the national finals in Kisumu after a hard-fought 3-2 win over M-Pesa Foundation. A brace from John Lokalia and Peterson Kamau’s strike did the damage.

Coach Jeff Makaya said: “We are new in this competition and this will be our first final. It is a privilege to represent Central in the finals.”

The winning teams walked home with Sh250,000 with the runners up pocketing Sh150,000.

Sonia Wambui (Barcelona Ladies) and Jayden Kariuki (Lysa FC) won the best goalkeepers awards.

The boys’ top scorer award went to Lysa FC’s John Lokalia and Peterson Kamau (two goals each).

Naomi Masinde (Barcelona Ladies) and Henry Ndemwa (M-Pesa Foundation) were named the most valuable players.
