Three Kenyan Premier League title-chasing coaches have vowed to drive the competition to the wire.

Tusker head coach Robert Matano reckons the fight for the title is far from over but has warned that they must outsmart their more fancied rivals Gor Mahia to crack the coveted silverware.

Matano reckons they are in a position to clinch their 13th Kenyan Premier League title after going second on March 10.

After a torrid start to the season, the Ruaraka-based beermakers moved leaps and bounds on their way to the top two and Matano believes they can do better.

"We acknowledge the task ahead but are determined to succeed. Only Gor Mahia stand between us and the title at the moment," Matano remarked.

"We can win the title but that means going for maximum points in all our remaining matches."

"What impresses me the most is the zeal displayed by my players in recent encounters. With such a spirit, I believe we can fight gallantly to lessen the gap between us and leaders Gor Mahia and edge them to the title," Matano said.

Even as Matano contemplates his title prospects, Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry reiterated his desire to claim his second straight title.

The Irish gaffer hailed his charges for pushing themselves over and above in the cutthroat KPL race.

"We've done well thus far and the whole squad deserve a pat on the back," McKinistry remarked.

But after crashing to Bandari at Mbaraki grounds last Saturday, he has dared his charges to sharpen their blunt attack.

"They need to be effective in front of the goal. They wasted chances that would have changed the outcome."

"We weren't at our best in the last match and you could see how we struggled to convert our chances. It's a fixture we could have easily won had we been keen enough," he added.

The two will have to contend with an abrasive challenge from third-placed Bandari.

Head coach John Barasa praised his charges for defying expectations on their way to the top three.

The Dockers have been impressive with their last outing being a shock 1-0 win over K'Ogalo. The outcome propelled them to second place on the log with 43 points, seven behind the leaders.

Barasa said they are on track to fulfilling their elusive maiden topflight silverware dream.

"We have reduced the gap between us and the leaders to seven points and now have a good chance to catch up. I can comfortably say the title charge is still open," he added.
