Luanda Villa coach Tom Tera is fearful that the departure of five of their senior players could derail their quest for Kenyan Premier League promotion.

Veteran striker Michael Isabwa and midfielder Vincent Mulama joined NSL rivals Mara Sugar while goalkeeper Elix Otieno and centre-back Justus Munika signed for Naivas.

Midfielder Mohammed Baraza left for Division One side, Soy United.

Mulama made his debut for the Millers last weekend against Darajani Gogo.

To replace the five, the NSL newcomers have signed goalkeepers Johnstone Alusaka from Mulembe United and Fanuel Bwire from Mayenje Santos.

Others are forwards Veron Najero from Rainbow, Victor Barrack (Masana Secondary School) and Wayne Mbuya.

“The departures of the first-team players in the last two transfer windows have affected my plans. There is nothing I can do. Some of the players have families to feed and there is also life after football,” said  Tera.

He added: “Lack of funds is our biggest challenge but we have managed to recruit some players including school boys. I believe our quest for KPL qualification is on despite the challenges.”

The Mumboha-based club are eighth on the NSL log with 24 points from 17 outings.

Meanwhile, Mara Sugar team manager Thomas Mboya has confirmed the departure of NSL top scorer Philemon Nyakwaka, who is being linked with KCB. Nyakwaka has been replaced by Isabwa.

Silibwet Leons speedy winger Derrick Kipkoech has also signed for the promotion-chasing Millers.
