Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat was spotted at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu on Tuesday during the Cecafa Under-18 match between Kenya and Rwanda.

The Turkish gaffer who had come under fire for failing to attend local matches to scout for talent was flanked by his assistant Ken Odhiambo who was seen making notes during the game.

During an earlier interview, Firat jumped to his defense, insisting that he has always attended local tournaments to tap into the vast pool of talent available in the country.

"I have, of course, been going to local games. Perhaps individuals who claim not to see me at our stadiums anticipate seeing me in the reserved area," Firat remarked.

"I prefer mingling with the rest of the spectators in the stands and unless you are keen you cannot easily pick me out of the crowd," he stated.

Firat is expected to select players from Kenya's talented Under-18 squad who have shown excellent form thus far at the regional showpiece in Kisumu.
