KBF set to hold national team trials for the 3x3 team

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) national trials to select the 3x3 team to prepare for the upcoming games including the Olympic qualifier will be held today.

According to a release by KBF Secretary General, Ambrose Kisoi, a total of 40 male players have been invited for day-long trials this morning (9 a.m.) at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.

“As part of our efforts to select the best players for our 3x3 national team and preparations for upcoming games including the Olympic qualifications, the federation will carry out trials for top 40 male players through a tournament,” the statement read.

He said the criteria for the nomination will include skills, current form, must have a confirmed account at play.fiba3x3.com, and must have been born before January 1, 2006.

The players must also have a bio-metric passport and must not have played for the national team in 5x5 or 3x3.

“All selected players will be required to commit their availability for all preparations leading to the Olympic Games 2024,” he revealed.

Kenya is ranked second on the continent behind leaders Egypt following their exploits in the FIBA 3x3 U-23 World Cup that ended in Lublin, Poland last week.
