Tusker head coach Robert Matano has urged his charges to start asserting authority in their Kenyan Premier League tie against Talanta at Ruaraka grounds on Sunday.

Matano said he believes they have trained sufficiently to unleash terror on their opponents as they embark on a vicious title hunt this season.

“We are ready for the match and I believe we have trained well and the new players have gelled well with the rest of the squad,” Matano said.

“We intend to begin the season strongly and position ourselves strategically for title contention,” Matano added.

Matano asked his charges to go all out for goals to seal the maximum points early in the game.  “We can’t afford to drop points. The league is extremely competitive and every fixture poses a threat of its own. We are certainly taking each match at a time,” he said.

AFC Leopards will flex muscles with Shabana at Nyayo Stadium while Muhoroni Youth FC will host Ulinzi Stars at Muhoroni Stadium in Kisumu County. Sofapaka has a date with Nairobi City Stars at Kasarani Annex, Nairobi.

Croat Zdravko Logarusic will experience his first real test on Saturday when he leads Kenya Police FC against Bidco United at the Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday.

Ligarusic was appointed days after the Law enforcers sent Francis Baraza packing in the wake of a torrid run on the topflight stage.

Baraza left the side lurking in a precarious 16th position on the log with three points from four games following a winless streak.

The former Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards gaffer pledged to steer the side to a maiden top-tier title this season.

“I know why I have been given this job and I will do all I can to meet expectations. I’ll be conducting training sessions straight away. Thank you so much, God bless you all, and let us go for good results,” Logarusic said.

While acknowledging the high expectations suddenly placed on his shoulders, Logarusic said he will not be bogged down by pressure.

“Pressure is part of my job, I have to deal with pressure. We have very good players. We have players who should be national team players. We have stars. We have to find what is wrong and how each of them can give us a hundred and ten percent.”
