Mara Sugar players celebrate after winning in a recent match

Mara Sugar coach Francis Xavier has warned his charges against slip-ups ahead of their National Super League game against Kibera Black Stars.

“Complacency cost us in the game against Migori Youth last weekend. We are not going to entertain any sluggishness going forward,” he said.

Xavier noted that his charges underrated Migori Youth in their 1-1 draw at Awendo Green Stadium.

“Actually Migori Youth surprised us. My players thought that since Migori lost most of their players, it was a weak team but they were shocked. I’m happy with the one point that we got from the game,” noted the tactician.

On their game against Kibera Black Stars at Awendo Green Stadium on Saturday, Xavier said: “We must rise to the occasion and claim three points. I know it will be a tough match because Kibera Black Stars is equally an experienced team.”

He said his new signings are adapting well to the team. “It will take them time to gel but I’m impressed by those who have played so far,” said the former midfielder.

In matches scheduled for Saturday, Mombasa Stars FC will host local rivals SS Assad FC at Mbaraki while Kajiado FC and Vihiga Bullets will face off at Ildamat Stadium in Kajiado.
