Kenyan Premier League club Kenya Police FC have unveiled Croat Zdravko Logarusic as their new head coach.

The development comes barely days after the struggling law enforcers sent Francis Baraza packing in the wake of a torrid run on the topflight stage.

Baraza left the side lurking in a precarious 16th position on the log with three points from four games following a winless streak.

Logarusic was unveiled by the club chairman, Nyale Munga at the Police Sacco Stadium on Thursday.

The former Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards gaffer pledged to steer the side to a maiden top-tier title this season.

“I know why I have been given this job and I will do all I can to meet expectations. I'll be conducting training sessions straight away. Thank you so much, God bless you all, and let us go for good results,” Logarusic said.

“I’m going to work with the team for one and a half hours today and tomorrow to try and find out all the areas we need to work on. We are not here for the top four. Rather, we intend to clinch the league,” Logarusic remarked.

While acknowledging the high expectations suddenly placed on his shoulders, Logarusic said he will not be bogged down by pressure.

“Pressure is part of my job, I have to deal with pressure. We have very good players. We have national team players. We have players who should be national team players. We have stars. We have to find what is wrong and how each of them can give us a hundred and ten percent.”

His first real test will be this Saturday against Bidco United. Police FC chairman, Nyale Munga lavished praise on the newly appointed tactician, describing saying he is fit for the job.

“We are pleased this morning with the arrival of our new head coach who is popularly known as Loga,” Munga said.

“We reached out to him because of his immense wealth of experience that can lead us to a successful title charge. He is a coach of international repute with a cabinet full of trophies," he added.

“He is a well-known figure in the coaching circles and has guided two great local clubs in the past. He has also been in the Middle East. He just arrived from Zagreb and we hope that he is going to rejuvenate our team. He is a very good coach," added Munga.

The law enforcers released a statement on Thursday, saying the Croat would be assisted by seasoned local tactician Salim Babu who deputized Baraza also.

“It's official, Zdravko Logarusic has completed his move to POLICE F.C. as the Head coach, The tactician alongside his assistant coach Salim will steer the team toward its vision. Welcome home coach!”
