Chapa Dimba tournament enters inter-county stage in Nyanza

The inter county competition is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The six counties have been pooled in two groups of three teams each.

In Summary

•The teams will play in a round-robin with the top two in each category qualifying for regional semi-finals scheduled for Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu on September 30 and October 1.

•In Rongo, Kisii County’s Small Simba, Nyaguku from Nyamira and Awendo Academy will face off in the boys’ category while in the girls’ category, Kisii Queens, Rigoma Starlets and Ahenga Ladies will battle it out.

The Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament enters the inter-county stage in Nyanza region with the six counties set to battle it out.

The inter-county competition is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The six counties have been pooled into two groups of three teams each.

The teams will play in a round-robin with the top two in each category qualifying for regional semifinals scheduled for Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on September 30 and October 1.

Teams from Nyamira, Kisii, and Migori counties will battle it for the two semifinal slots at Rongo showground while stiff competition is expected when teams from Siaya, Kisumu, and Homa Bay collide at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Sunday.

In Rongo, Kisii county’s Small Simba, Nyaguku from Nyamira and Awendo Academy will face off in the boys’ category while Kisii Queens, Rigoma Starlets, and Ahenga Ladies will battle it out in the girls' edition.

At Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay, Kisumu county champions Obunga FC are favourites in the boys’ category but face unpredictable Wagai Secondary from Siaya and Karabondi from Homa Bay. Wagai were awarded their abandoned game against Ambira Mobimba.

In the girls’ category, Ogande Girls from Homa Bay, Plateau Queens from Homa Bay, and Siaya’s VSA Ladies will vie for the two slots in the regional semis.

Regional champions will pocket Sh250, 000 with runners-up going home with Sh150,000.  The teams will also gain slots at the nationals.

The tournament has already been concluded in the Western region with Ebwali Boys from Vihiga and Brenda Girls emerging winners.
