Former champions Tusker FC failed to exert revenge against Kakamega Homeboyz in Saturday’s Kenyan Premier League match at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega county.

Tusker were hoping to get even with Homeboyz, who beat them to the FKF Cup last season. However, the brewers fell 2-1 in what was Homeboyz' first win of the season.

Homeboyz winger Ambrose Sifuna scored in the third minute with a clinical right-foot finish before Moses Shumah doubled the lead in the 15th minute.

Tusker scored a consolation through Erick Zakayo in the 71st minute of a second half played under a heavy downpour.

Tusker assistant coach George Maina was disappointed with how his team defended, especially in the first half.

"We did not defend well, loose marking by my defenders allowed Homeboyz to sneak in and that cost us the three points," he said.

His counterpart, Patrick Odhiambo, commended his players for an impressive display despite the wet conditions.
