Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Patrick Odhiambo says they are keen on winning all their matches as they target amaiden Kenyan Premier League title.

Speaking after beating Tusker 2-1 at Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday, Odhiambo said they will have to keep up the momentum if their ambitions are to come true.

“We need to win as many matches as possible to win the title. Today’s win has propelled us to a greater height and we need more of these to remain in contention,” said Odhiambo.

The FKF Cup champions had a brief stay in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they were eliminated in the preliminary round by Al Hilal Benghazi and Odhiambo said their focus is squarely on the KPL title.

Homeboyz lost their opening match to newly-promoted side Murang’a Seal two weeks ago, before the Fifa international break, but Odhiambo feels they are now in a better place.

“This was a tough match for us but we worked hard to play as a team and we are happy with the results. Rain affected our play since the field was very very slippery and thus difficult to control the ball,” said Odhiambo.

Homeboyz winger Ambrose Sifuna scored in the third minute with a clinical right-foot finish before Moses Shumah doubled the scores in the 15th minute.

Tusker scored a consolation through Erick Zakayo in the 71st minute of a rain-soaked second half.
