Manchester United on Wednesday released a statement in regards to Antony Matheus dos Santos domestic violence investigation by a Sao Paulo Court.
The Brazilian winger is accused of assaulting his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin on Monday.
The ex-girlfriend's report contains accusations of assault, bodily harm and threatening behaviour by the star.
The club statement published on Wednesday said:
“Man United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting enquiries.”
“Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments. As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse."
This comes after the club was recently dragged in the mud by another player, Mason Greenwood, accused of assault on his lover in October 2022 forcing them to part ways with the said player.
The Brazilian national team have dropped Antony from their squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru over the next 10 days replacing him with Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus.
A statement from the Brazilian Football Confederation read:
“As a result of the facts that have come to light, and which need to be investigated, and in order to safeguard the supposed victim, the player, and the Brazilian national team the CBF have withdrawn him from the squad.”
