Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has unveiled a 30-man provisional squad ahead of the Four Nations Tournament set for June 11-18 in Mauritius.

Firat said he had meticulously rummaged through the local and international landscape for quality talent.

"The star-studded 30-man provisional squad comprises a blend of local stars largely drawn from the Kenyan Premier League as well as seasoned foreign-based players," Firat said while unveiling the squad.

The Turkish gaffer said they would use the tournament to gauge the mettle of their recruits ahead of upcoming major international assignments.

"I have strategically selected this squad to prepare for the upcoming CAF and FIFA assignments. Additionally, the Four Nations Tournament offers our players the opportunity to show what they can offer."

Among the local luminaries who have been handed a maiden call-up to the national team are custodian Simon Masaka (Sofapaka), Kevin Luke Otiala (Kariobangi Sharks), Charles Ouma (Kenya Police), and Moses Shummah (Kakamega Homeboyz).

"We are keen on injecting fresh energy into the team and their performance on the local stage attests to their ability to do well in the national team," Firat said.

Tusker first-choice custodian Brian Bwire leads the squad of veterans who have found their way back into the national team, including Robinson Kamura (Kakamega Homeboyz), and Boniface Omondi (Gor Mahia).

Bwire and Omondi were particularly outstanding during their league encounter that ended in a goalless draw at Nyayo stadium on Sunday.

Stars kick off residential training on Monday and are set to depart for Mauritius on June 10, 2023.
