Murang’a Seal reduced Shabana’s lead at the top of the National Super League to just three points following their 1-0 win over third-placed Migori Youth in a midweek clash played at St Sebastian Park.
Eric Juma scored the all-important goal for the promotion-seeking side in the tough encounter.
Following the win, Murang’a Seal moved to 54 points from 25 games. The teams have a goal difference of 32.
Shabana will not be in action until June 3 when they host Kibera Black Stars while Murang’a Seal return to the pitch on Sunday when they travel to Awendo for an encounter against play-off-seeking Mara Sugar.
Despite the loss, Migori Youth remained third with 47 points, having played one more game than the top two teams.
At Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, hosts Mully Children’s Family (MCF) came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Darajani Gogo. Newbies Darajani remain sixth on the log with 39 points.
The top two teams will gain automatic qualification to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League next season while the third-placed team will battle the 16th-placed team in the KPL in a promotion playoff.
Shabana and Murang’a Seal remain favourities for automatic qualification to the topflight league with seven games to go.
Migori Youth, Mara Sugar and fifth-placed Gusii FC are battling for the play-off position.
