Murang’a Seal reduced Shabana’s lead at the top of the National Super League to six points following a comfortable 2-0 win over Mombasa Elites on Monday.

After the win, Seal moved to 48 points on the log with a game in hand.

Shabana sits at the summit with 54 points from 24 games. The Glamour Boys will not be in action this weekend.

Murang’a  Seal coach Vincent Nyaberi said the win against Mombasa Elites was very important for his team.

“With a game in hand against Migori Youth, we want to reduce Shabana’s lead to three points. After that, the pressure will be on them,” said Nyaberi, a former Shabana player and coach.

He added: “All our remaining matches are like finals. We want to win all of them and qualify for the Kenya Premier League. We want to lift the NSL trophy. The boys are psyched up.”

During the game which was played at Mbaraki sports ground, Yusuf Ali and Eric Juma scored for Murang’a Seal.

The battle for the playoff place also intensified with favourites Migori Youth, and Mara Sugar winning their matches.

Gusii’s hopes of a play-off slot suffered a dent after a 2-1 loss against Naivas FC as Mara Sugar drubbed Darajani Gogo 3-0.

In another match played on Monday, Kisumu All Stars compounded SS Assad’s relegation woes after beating them 2-1 at Shamu grounds in Kwale.

Devan Omondi and Noah Jagongo were on target for Kisumu All Stars while Wilberforce Lugogo scored the host’s lone goal.
