Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinstry has lashed out at his charges for squandering a 2-0 lead to share spoils with Posta Rangers at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

The result severely undermines Gor's chances of winning the championship, given that they now lead second-placed Tusker by just one point.

Tusker have a game in hand.

Enraged with Sunday's outcome, the Irish gaffer tore into his team for doing a shoddy job, adding they were even lucky to have emerged from the match with a point.

"We were fortunate to have collected a point from this match. We have played some brilliant football in recent weeks but today was one of our poorest performances this season," McKinstry said.

"We only managed to command a 2-0 lead in the first half because Posta didn't defend well. When they returned for the second half more organised they punished us for our laxity."

As McKinistry gnashed his teeth in agony, his opposite number, John Kamau, was all smiles, lauding his players for exhibiting great character in the encounter.

"I am thrilled by the results and this gives me a lot of confidence heading into our next match. Gor Mahia are a big team and I have a lot of respect for them," Kamau stated.

"We were disorganised in the first half and I'm glad we bounced back strongly after the break to secure a point from the match."

Mercurial striker Benson Omalla rose above his markers to head in a splendid cross from Boniface Omondi in the sixth minute of the thrilling encounter.

On the half-hour mark, Omondi lobbed the ball over the mailmen's defence into the box, conveniently finding Omalla in a perfect position to head in his second of the game and 22nd of the season.

Just when K'Ogalo thought they were headed for a win, things began falling apart in the 66th minute when Calvin Odongo pounced on a beautiful pass on the edge of the box to fire a rasping shot into the back of the net.

Fired up by the goal, the mailmen made further inroads into their opponents' territory and it wasn't long before the Gor's defence came crumbling again.

Keeper Gad Mathews mishandled a shot that bounced off the woodwork and hit this back before ricocheting into the gaping net.
