Shabana open seven-point lead in NSL

Shabana have opened a seven-point gap at the top of the FKF National Super League following a 1-0 win over Mully Children’s Family (MCF) at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Wycliffe Nthata scored the all-important goal for the Glamour Boys. The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 76th minute when Isaac Otieno was sent off.

The Kisii-based side moved to 32 points, seven ahead of the trio of Gusii, Kibera Black Stars and Murang’a Seal — who have two games at hand.

Second-placed Gusii fell 3-0 to Darajani Gogo at Camp Toyoyo with Brian Wafula, Mathew Masialu and John Mugodelivering the goods for Darajani Gogo.

Seal and fourth-placed Black Stars also failed to close the gap on Shabana after battling to a barren draw at St Sebastian Park in Murang’a.

Kajiado FC eased their relegation worries after a rare 2-1 win over Coastal Heroes at Ildamat Stadium in Kajiado County. Ryan Lahya and Abkar Wangai were on target for the hosts while Lucky Kaingu scored Coastal Heroes’ consolation goal.

Mombasa Elite Academy beat Mwatate United 2-1 at Mbaraki Sports Grounds. Amubwome Sherrif and Daniel Odhiambo scored for Elite while Brian Kipruto struck for Mwatate.

Naivas FC defeated hosts SS Assad 2-1 at Shamu grounds in Kwale County with Vincent Likare and Ken Mutembe on target for the visitors as Nyamawi Beja scored for Assad.

At Mumias Sports ground, hosts Vihiga United held Mara Sugar to a 1-1 draw. Victor Ngume scored for Mara Sugar while Mark Okola replied for the hosts.
