On Friday, he said it was a great privilege serving the people of Nakuru as their Governor.

"As we turn another leaf, we wish the people of Nakuru the very best. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than a better Nakuru. We look forward to it," Kinyanjui added.

He expressed his gratitude to the county staff, county assembly, to external partners, noting that their efforts and contribution were highly appreciated.

"I thank all the people who walked the journey with me. We celebrate your patriotism," Kinyanjui said.

In addition, the former Governor urged Nakuru to continue building the nation in their respective portfolios as they owed it to the next generation.

The former Governor skipped Thursday's inauguration ceremony that saw Susan Kihika sworn in as Nakuru's third governor.

Kihika, who trounced Jubilee's Lee Kinyanjui with more than 200,000 votes, took an oath of office together with deputy governor-elect David Kones.

She is also the first female governor for the county and is among the seven women governors elected in August polls.
