Gor Mahia skipper, Philemon Otieno, says they have stroped their talons well enough to claw Ulinzi in their first encounter of the season at Nyayo Stadium.

Otieno spoke a day after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee released Week One fixtures of the new KPL season.

A statement from the Committee, whose mandate ends on Sunday, also provided a new date for the start of the competition.

TC said the new season will commence on September 10 and not August 27 as initially planned.

“We are definitely ready for our opponents. We took a short break and we hope to resume as soon as the elections are over,” Otieno said in an exclusive interview on Thursday.

Otieno also said he was confident all the players who were suspended a week ago will return to training soon.

“The management is handling their case and I believe it won't be long before they join us in training,” Otieno said.

Last week, the club imposed suspensions on 10 players found culpable of absconding from training.

In the other matches set for September 10, Bidco United host Nzoia Sugar at Thika Stadium and KCB have a date with Kariobangi Sharks at Moi Stadium, Kasarani Annex.

Newbies, Fortune Sacco, will get a real taste of topflight football in their debut encounter against Talanta at Ruaraka Grounds.

On September 11, Nairobi City Stars take the battle to the doorstep of debutants APS Bomet at IAAF Stadium, Bomet.

Both APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco FC sealed promotion slots in the country's top tier after finishing first and second respectively in the preceding National Super League (NSL) season.

In other matches, last season's runners-up Kakamega Homeboys will host AFC Leopards at Bukhungu Stadium while Mombasa-based Bandari, who finished third last season, travel to Nairobi to face Kenya Police.

Champions Tusker will flex muscles with Posta Rangers at Ruaraka grounds as Wazito and Sofapaka settle scores at Moi Stadium, Kasarani.

Wazito cemented a spot in the new season after fending off a tough challenge from NSL side Murang'a Seal in a two-legged promotion/relegation playoff.

TC said they will release subsequent fixtures in due course.
