Troubled Malkia Strikers have threatened to boycott training in Brazil unless their allowances are settled in full.

Kenya Queens, under the tutelage of coach Paul Bitok, left the country in June for a two-month High-Performance Training camp in the South American country en route to the World Championships to be co-hosted by both Poland and  Netherlands.

The planetary assignment is set for September 23 to October 15  and has attracted 24 teams divided into four pools.

While the team has played seven friendly matches thus far, players have only received Sh44,000 each in allowances.

The government is catering for air tickets and allowances both in Brazil and Netherlands while betting firm, Mozart Bet will take care of Malkia's 10-day stop in Serbia, where Kenyans will rub shoulders with the hosts and Colombia in high-caliber test matches. Mozzart is sponsoring the team to a tune of Sh10 million.

"We have only received 44,000 and we were told this was part of the Mozzart cash," a player who sought anonymity remarked.

Players are worried that in the aftermath of the national general elections, their cries will fall on deaf ears.

The government had to bore down to pressure to finally grant tickets to the team after a push and pull. Kenya is the only African country enjoying goodwill from the Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) program.

This time around,  the squad of 16 players boosts more juniors, who are itching for their international debut as attention turns to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Exposure to a high-pressured environment will not only boost the players' self-esteem but also gain considerable experience.

Malkia will savour their chances against Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Puerto Rico, and Cameroon in a thrilling Pool 'B' affair.

Italy, who are the European champions, and The Netherlands are favourites to progress considering their superiority. However, Malkia are keeping their second-round ambitions alive.
