AFC Leopards have appointed Albert Edson Wesonga the new team manager with immediate effect.

He replaces Tom Juma, who doubled up as the acting assistant coach since February.

Wesonga rides into office high on experience, having held a similar position at former Kenyan Premier League side, Nakumatt where he also served as the CEO.

Wesonga's appointment is among a raft of measures put in place by the newly-elected officials, who have expressed a desire to turn around the fortunes of the team ahead of the new season.

In their acceptance speeches, Dan Shikanda (chairman), Gilbert Andugu (secretary-general) and Oliver Napali (treasurer) promised a brighter future for the club.

“Let us join hands, work together and ensure that AFC Leopards regain lost glory,” Shikanda said.

While thanking the club for entrusting him with the honour of serving as treasurer, Napali promised financial sustainability and stability at the club.

“I’m sure, the future looks bright. Our combined efforts will usher in a new era at the Den,” he said.

“The task ahead can only be achieved if we hold each other's hand and strive towards greatness.”

During the elections held at Moi Stadium Kasarani, Shikanda retained his seat after flooring his sole competitor, Robert Namai. Shikanda garnered 429 votes against Namai's 282.

Andugu bagged 433 votes to secure the secretary-general's seat after beating Robert Omusawa and Tonny Omusina who got 224 and 49 votes respectively.

Napali romped into the treasurer's office unopposed.
