Ulinzi Starlets captain Diana Shakava says they have passed a message to league leaders Vihiga Queens with their  7-0 thrashing of minnows Kangemi Ladies at Ruaraka.

The two heavyweights are set to clash this weekend in a Kenya Women's Premier League clash at Mumias Sports Complex and Shakava believes the soldiers are more than prepared for revenge.

"This was a typical team performance and a big motivation before we meet Vihiga. It won't be business as usual in Mumias. They beat us 2-0 at Utalii but this will be a different ball game altogether," Shakava said.

The soldiers were in their element with Siliya Rasoa and Emily Auma scoring from the spot.

Red-hot Lanoline Aoko grabbed a brace to continue her fine start to the season before defenders Margaret Odiro and Mary Akumu scored a goal each.

International midfielder Sheryl Angachi was also on the score sheet to perfectly cap her fine performance in the one-sided affair.

This was Ulinzi's second consecutive clean sheet.

Before the first leg break, Ulinzi, under the guidance of coach Joseph Mwanza, whipped Kayole Starlets 6-0.

Shakava said the mid-season break offered the team the opportunity to work on their weaknesses.

"The team is in a better shape after the break. We have eliminated the errors in the game and look flawless...a complete outfit. There's still a long way to go therefore players will need to remain committed to the course," Shakava said.

Ulinzi are second on the log with 25 points.

The FKF Women's Cup and Super Cup champions are the second-highest scoring WPL team with 37 goals from 12 matches, after title favourites Vihiga.

Kangemi coach Joseph Odhiambo, who was red-carded for dissent in the 36th minute,  complained he only had five first-team players for the match.

"We didn't have most of the regular players, making it hard for us to cope with Ulinzi. We need to work on our speed and scoring before we entertain Falcons," Odhiambo said.

Elsewhere, Zetech Sparks needed an 88th-minute goal from midfielder Rael Kamanda to rescue a point in a 1-1 all draw against Trans-Nzoia Falcons.

Martha Karani had given the visitors the lead midway through the second half.

Gaspo Women registered a 3-0 routine victory over Kisumu All Starlets at Gems Cambridge, Magadi Road.

Diana Wacera and Elizabeth Wambui gave the Gatundu-based side a 2-0 halftime lead. Lavender Musindi made it 3-0 in the second half.
