FKF Cup champions, Gor Mahia, will battle it out with Congolese representatives AS Otoho d’Oyo in the play-off round of the Caf Confederation Cup.

This is according to the draw conducted on Tuesday by the continental football governing body, Caf.

K'Ogalo will kick off their hunt for a slot in the group stage away in Congo before hosting their opponents at home in the return leg of the double header. The first leg matches have been slated for November 26-28.

Gor rode to the final round of the preliminary stage on the back of a walkover after Sudanese side Al Ahli Merowe failed to arrive in Kenya on Sunday for the second leg of the penultimate round.

They had a two-goal advantage heading into the match after registering an emphatic 3-1 victory over their opponents at the New Suez Stadium in Egypt a week ago.

The draw also pitted Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker  against Tunisian side CS Sfaxien.

Tusker were relegated to the Caf Confederation Cup after crushing 5-0 on aggregate to Egyptian giants Zamalek SC in the second preliminary round of the Champions League.

They will embark on their campaign at home before departing for Tunisia for the return leg a week later.

Tusker head coach Robert Matano told a local online publication that they gathered some imperative lessons along the way which they will use to turn around their fortunes.

“It is a tough draw but we will definitely give our all to get good results. We have learnt a lot from both matches against Zamalek and we have seen what we need to do and what we need to improve and also how to approach these matches better,” said Matano.

“The game will come at a time when we will have already played some matches in the league and the players will have picked some necessary match fitness and also the cohesion in the team will be better in terms of understanding and playing as a unit,” he added.

“We know we have our work cut out and we promise to do better and play better. We started on a low but now we have to raise our level and do better.” said Matano.
