Harambee Stars' head coach Engin Firat believes his charges have gathered a lot of positives from their last two consecutive losses to Mali which they could use to destroy their opponents in their remaining fixtures.

Firat asked Kenyan fans to be patient with the team and promised some better results in their upcoming fixtures against Uganda and Rwanda.

“There was marked improvement in Sunday's game compared to what we witnessed on Thursday. We managed to string together some complete passes and the attacking force looked much sharper,” said Firat.

“It's a learning process and we have borrowed some vital lessons that will prove vital in our remaining two matches against Rwanda and Uganda," he added.

After bagging a hat-trick in their 5-0 demolition of Kenya in Morocco on Thursday, Ibrahim Kone's ghost came back to haunt Harambee Stars again at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

The mercurial forward's 54th minute strike was all the visitors needed to hammer the final nail into the host's casket.

Following the loss, any slim hopes the hosts had nursed of advancing to the next stage have now gone up in flames.

Harambee Stars had virtually been ruled out of the World Cup after their loss in Morocco but Sunday's defeat in their own backyard has now written them off completely.

Following the win, Les Aigles have now cemented their position at the apex of the Group E log with 10 points.

Kenya's remaining encounters against Uganda in Kampala and Rwanda in Nairobi have now been thinned out to a formality. Uganda are second in the group after stunning Rwanda 1-0 in Kigali on Thursday.

Stars' coach Firat maintained the same 4-2-3-1 formation but tinkered with the squad in a bid to turn around the fortunes.

Aboud Omar replaced Joash Onyango at left back with Ouma who featured in the position in Morocco being switched to the right.

Omar had been fielded as a left offensive midfielder, a role that Firat decided to hand Tusker's Boniface Muchiri on Sunday.

Kenya had a glorious chance to level terms in the 71st minute but Eric Ouma's header greased the upright.

Only Richard Odada and Kenneth Muguna in the midfield, and centre-backs Johnstone Omurwa and Joseph Okumu maintained their roles.

All in all, the hosts appeared more focused, much more organized than they were in their first encounter.
