Royal Starlets FC goalkeeper Abigael Masafu is finalising her transfer  to Tanzanian side Tiger Queens, newly-appointed Queens coach Alex Alumira has said.

Masafu has been in Alumira's radar for a while and the former Vihiga Queens coach is eager to work with the talented shot-stopper.

"The club is on the verge of completing the deal to sign Masafu with only a few paper works remaining before it's official but the stage is set for her to test the Tanzanian Premier League," Alumira said.

"I have closely followed her progress and even though she has not played in the Premier League, she has the quality to blossom in the top tier."

Royal Starlets coach David Owuor confirmed there's interest in his players but could not reveal who will be leaving, though they are ready for any departures.

"Yeah, there's pursuit for some of our players but nothing is done yet. In case of players moving elsewhere, we already have tailor-made replacements," he said.

Masafu helped Royal Starlets finished second in Division One Zone 'B' with Bunyore Starlets bagging the automatic promotion slot.

The promotion criteria is not yet known with the teams having their fingers crossed that two teams will be elevated to WPL.

Alumira, who will be coaching outside Kenya for the first time, is tasked with creating a competitive team that will be debuting in the Tanzanian Premier League.

"The first assignment is to create a quality team. I know it will take some time because the team is full of internationals with diverse cultures. I already have a big squad with players full of character," he concluded.
