Kenyan champions, Tusker, have finally secured the signatures of goalkeeper Brian Bwire and defender Daniel Sakari – both from Kariobangi Sharks.

The duo joined the brewers for a training session at Ruaraka grounds on Tuesday morning, exactly a day after returning with the national team, Harambee Stars, from Group “E” World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda in Kigali on Sunday.

This will be Sakari’s third top-flight club, having also turned out for Kakamega Homeboyz before penning a deal with Sharks in 2019.

“It is a really great honour for me to join Tusker, who are reigning champion. I already feel like a champion. I have my work cut out because there is a lot of competition in the team, but that is what makes a player better,” Sakari said.

For Bwire, joining Tusker is most definitely a huge leap in his career. He gradually carved his path to greatness after honing his skills at Kariobangi Sharks’ academy side during his formative years.

“I feel delighted to be making another step in my career. Tusker is a big team and they will be playing continental football this season and that is a challenge that I am really looking forward to.”

“I joined the team in training for the first time today and I really felt welcomed. I didn’t feel like a visitor at all. Now it is about getting down to work and putting in the effort,” added Bwire who also featured for Emerging Stars in the Cecafa U-23 championship in Ethiopia.

Tusker chairman Daniel Aduda said the club was privileged to rope in two national team players.

“We really feel delighted to bring on board national team players who have gathered immense experience. Their presence, especially as we head to play continental football, will be a huge asset to the coaching department,” said Aduda.
