Four weeks before the 2022 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League starts, Mathare United are in search of a new coach after Frank Ouna yesterday confirmed he had left his position to join Rwanda top flight side Musanze.

“I have joined a Rwandan Premier League side, Musanze FC for a period of two years,” Ouna confirmed.

The former Wazito tactician was credited with guiding the Slum Boys from what would have been a catastrophic relegation for the storied side as he won four of his last five matches.

“It’s with overwhelming emotion that today I announce that I will not renew my contract.

“Let me take this opportunity to place on record my sincere gratitude to the club management, fans, players and my technical bench.

“We achieved what we set forth to do. I leave with my head held high.

"I believe I have left behind a capable technical bench and playing unit.

“All the best in your future endeavours and all the best this coming season,” Ouna said in a statement.

Ouna’s assistants Ezekiel Akwana and George Midenyo are now in charge of Mathare’s pre-season training but how long they remain in that position remains to be seen with the latter likely to follow Ouna to Musanze.
