Starlets step up preps with friendly duel

Starlets resumed training onThursday after the government released funds to the federation that will go towards their preparations.

Harambee Starlets will play a friendly match against the FKF National Center of Excellence boys team on Monday as they finalise preparations for their 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games qualifier against Zambia.

The national women's team resumed their training after the government released funds to the federation, which will go towards their preparations.

Starlets reported to camp on Thursday evening at the Kasarani Stadion Hotel, a camp that had been earlier in the week called off due to financial constraints.

The team was, however, expected to be full-house yesterday, and will hold their first training session at the Moi Stadium, Kasarani. Star striker Mwanahalima Adam thanked Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Amina Mohammed and FKF President, Nick Mwendwa for coming to the team's aid.

“I would like to thank God for this chance to come to camp and train. I would also like to thank CS Amina Mohammed and FKF president, Nick Mwendwa, for the efforts that helped us return to training,”  she said.

The first leg match will be played on November 8, 2019, at the Moi Stadium, Kasarani, while the second leg has been scheduled for November 11, 2019, at the Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia.
