Equity Bank Hawks beat Zetech University Sparks 46-38 in a top Kenya Basketball Federation League women’s clash Sunday.

The match, played at United States International University, saw the bankers trail 16-12 in the first quarter. They turned the tables 14-6 in the second.

Hawks, who lost to the students in the Eliud Owalo Foundation tournament finals last weekend, took the third 12-9 and the fourth 9-7.

“We didn’t play well. I was also trying out some of my (fringe) players in readiness for the playoffs,” said Sparks coach Maurice Obilo.

Jemimmah Knight tossed in 22 points and Valery Kemunto added 10 for the Hawks. Maureen Kemunto and Ashley Minayo each had 11 for the losers.

Umoja suffered a 59-65 loss at the hands of the visiting Eldonets Platinum. In the lower division, Strathmore University Swords were 73-58 winners over Kisumu Lady Bucks.

Strathmore University dimmed Kisumu Lakeside 69-56 as Stanbic Aces blanked Kisumu Lady Bucks 60-43. JKUAT Straycats did enough to repel Zetech University 55-50 while Snipers dismissed Shoot 4 Life 58-49. Moi Air Base (MAB) hit Coastal Kings 51-48.
