National champions Kenya Ports Authority tackle unbeaten Nairobi City Thunder in a crunch Kenya National Basketball League encounter at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

The dock men’s coach, Cliff Owuor, expects the players to show the character they exhibited last weekend against Equity Bank Dumas and Kenyatta University Pirates.

“We have trained well since our last games in Nairobi last weekend. I have made some corrections though we are still a work in progress,” said Owuor.

“I have a young team that has picked up well. They gave a good account of themselves in our matches  last week.”

Griffin Ligare-led Thunder remain the only unbeaten side in the men’s category. They have all the necessary tools to make this tie a cracker.

Dumas, who were stretched to the limit by a sharp Strathmore University Blades side, face the University of Nairobi Terrorists.

Blades coach Tony Ochieng’ likes the way his boys are battling and fancies his chances against bottom-placed Kenyatta University Pirates.

Women champions KPA have a tight match against high-flying Equity Bank Hawks but Porters coach Anthony Ojukwu is upbeat.

“We have trained well and will, therefore, perform. We struggled at the post in our game with Zetech. This is among the areas I am working on,” said Ojukwu.

Zetech Sparks, who missed star player — Medina Okot — in the loss to KPA, have a date with Strathmore University Swords.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) play UoN Dynamites in what should be a closely fought affair.

Judy Pantaleo will lead the United States International University  (USIU) Flames against Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Panthers.
