Agoro Sare Boys’ basketball coach Benson Ochieng is eyeing a maiden national title after beating last year's runners-up Dagoretti High School 67-44 to reach Saturday's final.

"Our sights are set on the national title. Every dribble and every rebound has been meticulously honed since last year. The boys are relentless and victory will be ours," declared Ochieng'.

The Nyanza regional champions' best tournament remains the 2019 edition, where they reached the semifinals.

Ochieng emphasised the pivotal nature of their triumph over Dagoretti, fueling their fire for the ultimate clash.

“The match against Dagoretti was tough. They were runners-up last year and are also regional champions,” said Ochieng'.

“The boys played according to instructions. The win over Dagoretti is motivational going into Saturday’s game."

Agoro Sare face Dr. Aggrey High School, rekindling memories of their nailbiting preliminary Pool ‘B’ clash, snatched by Agoro Sare with a razor-thin margin of 54-53.

Dr Aggrey beat defending champions Laiser Hill 65-58.

Meanwhile, two-time national champions Buruburu Girls' reached the final with a 59-46 victory over Nasokol.

Coach Julius Otieno, embracing the underdog mantle, epitomised resilience, vowing readiness for any trial that awaits.

"Underdogs from the outset, underdogs still. We're primed for every challenge," he declared.

The team's assistant captain, Emma Awuor, lauded their impregnable defence as the cornerstone of their semifinal triumph, exuding confidence in their impending conquest.

“We believe defence wins matches. We are disciplined in our backline and lethal in our counters,” said Awuor.

“We have been preparing for this for a long time. It is good to see the hard work paying off. We will no doubt triumph in the final. We will not let our fans and school down on Saturday.”

Buruburu will face defending champions Butere Girls’, who saw off Kaya Tiwi 65-61.

It was a repeat of a Pool ‘A’ preliminary match on Wednesday, which the Nairobi region champions won 33-27.

“We are going to change our strategy in the final. Butere will come with their offence so we have to defend well and be quick in our transitions,” Otieno stated.

Butere head coach Chris Odeke, said: “We did not play at our best on Wednesday. We will have to sit and strategise how to win the final."
