Champions Kenya Ports Authority blanked the visiting Kenyatta University sides at Makande Welfare Hall in Mombasa on Saturday.
The portsmen crushed KU Pirates 68-38. They were ahead 49-27 at the breather. Martin Kitongo bagged 14 points, Job Byron 12, and Eugene Adera 11. Jira John provides KU's l4.
"The men played well and I am optimistic that sooner or later the team will be good because they have shown signs of improvement," offered KU coach Caleb Osewe.
"Their work rate has tremendously gone up compared to the first game against Strathmore University Blades."
KPA women ripped KU Oryx apart 86-8 after leading 39-6 at halftime. Yvonne Akinyi sunk 16 points, Selina Okumu 13 while Becky Nkatha and Jemimah Knight added 13 a piece in the one-sided win.
"The women's team is still down in terms of growth. We need to do a lot of work for us to get to premier standards." Osewe noted.
At the Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium in Nairobi, Platinum Eldonets dimmed United States International University (USIU) Tigers 58-48.
Tyson Ongwae sunk 26 points that included seven three-pointers and Renny Moibi added 14. USIU, down 36-22 at halftime, had 14 from Vitumbiko Mponela.
Equity Bank Hawks spiked Eldonets 75-26 after a 36-8 halftime difference. Captain Melissa Akinyi had 15 points, Rachael Akinyi 12 and Betty Kanani 12 for the bankers.
In the lower Division matches, Zetech University Titans hit Shoot-4-LIfe 68-62, National Bank of Kenya beat Coastal Kings 53-36 and Clique Mambas spiked Nebulus 92-36.
In the women's cadre, Strathmore University Swords beat Safe Spaces 49-43 and Zetech University Development side thrashed Multi-media University ((MMU) 76-15.
