United States International University tactician George Mayienga said he will build formidable teams for the Kenya National Basketball League top tier.

By qualifying for the Division One playoff finals, the Flames (women) and Tigers returned to the Premier League.

"My primary target when I came back to the sides last year was to return them to the Premier League," said Mayienga.

"Now that we have achieved that, we will start rebuilding the teams," said Mayienga, who is also the national team, Kenya Lionesses, head coach.

The long-serving tactician said his rebuilding will involve scouting as well as recruiting young players from high schools.

The tactician, who guided the USIU ladies' team to back-to-back national titles in 2015 and 2016 also handled Uganda's JKL Dolphins in 2020-2021.

He added: "We are going there (Premier League) where we will face top teams. It (competition) is not like in Division One. We must have formidable teams that can compete," he added.
