Reigning women champions Kenya Ports Authority whipped Strathmore University Swords 78-37in a play-off semi-finals Game One at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium Saturday.

The porters up 33-19 at the break, were led by Ifunaya Okoro 13 points, Hilda Indasi 12 and Belinda Okoth 11. Edna Kola shot 10 for Strath.

KPA men also beat Thunder 70-58 in Game One. The dock men trailed 17-13 despite starting well in the first quarter but recovered to take a 31-26 lead at halftime.

"It was a hard game from the start but I am happy for the win. What we need to know is that these are playoffs and we need to stay focused," Said porters coach Anthony Ojukwu.

In the matches played on Friday evening, Zetech University beat Equity Bank Hawks 75-72 in a closely fought duel.

The students went off to a 14-0 start and had 18 points from Medina Okot and 14 each from Kiyobe Chantal and Christine Akinyi.

The bankers gave it a good fight but just fell short in the end as Melissa Akinyi recorded 23 points and Betty Kananu 21.

Equity Bank Dumas dismissed Ulinzi Warriors 68-59.

In the Lower Division One match, Divine Irakozee shot 22 points as the United States International University (USIU) Flames beat Strathmore University 61-45.

Usiu Tigers dismissed Absa 70-58 on Deng Kuol's 16-point effort and National Bank of Kenya were felled 62-61 by Cabals Elisist.

Strathmore University hit Snipers 65-58 in a men's Division Two tie as Washington Mwangi shot 14 and Jackson Waweru had 12.
