Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Monday failed to release the names of companies that he wants his supporters to boycott in his resistance movement against the government.

However, it emerged that Raila withheld the list which he plans to release in the coming days. This is as he keeps the government guessing on his next move.

Insiders told the Star that the technical team had already compiled the details of the firms to be boycotted by Azimio supporters, but Raila "strategically' withheld it.

It is expected that the opposition leader will be unleashing the details in the coming days as he escalates his resistance against the Kenya Kwanza government.

Raila traversed parts of the city after his supporters were blocked from accessing the Central Business District, declaring more demonstrations would be staged every other Monday.

However, as he addressed thousands of his supporters in parts of Eastlands, Raila did not disclose the firms he had promised.

The ODM leader had claimed that he had the full list of the companies that he alleged should be boycotted for having links with top Kenya Kwanza leaders.

While appearing on TV 47 on Saturday, Raila promised that his team had compiled a full list of the companies and which would be released on Monday.

“There are more companies that we will name on Monday... I can't say them now but they are coming,” Raila said, only naming Safaricom.

On March 10, Raila called on his supporters to boycott the telco and also named eggs as some of the products that Kenyans should boycott in their resistance against President William Ruto's regime.

"There are some companies that are being used badly. I will soon tell you to leave the services from that company and products. All that is coming," Raila said in Migori.

"Eggs and other products; my team will tell you that we are not using these products.”

In 2017, Raila told Kenyans to boycott newspapers, TV stations, products and services.

Raila then claimed that the blacklisted firms were working with the then-regime to sabotage democracy.

The egg boycott has been interpreted as direct resistance to Ruto who has previously admitted to running a multi-billion poultry firm in his Sugoi home.

In 2021, Ruto made a spirited fightback over allegations of whipping up a false hustler narrative, revealing he makes Sh1.5 million a day from his Koitalel poultry farm.

The farm is home to 200,000 chickens.
