Kenya Ports Authority bowed out of Basketball Africa League (BAL) Elite 16 without a win after falling to NBA Academy Senegal 84-69in a match played in Johannesburg, South Africa.

It was the porters' third straight loss in the show after going down 72-53 to Urunani of Burundi and 96-72 to just club Cape Town Tigers.

Playing in Group A, KPA started this final fixture on a roaring note,  sinking five three-pointers as they took a commanding 33-24 first-quarter advantage.

The youngsters from Senegal displayed composure and class in the second quarter as they took a 17-14 lead but trailed 47-40 at halftime. After the break, NBA Academy rampaged to a staggering 25-8 cushion in the third quarter and crowned it with a 19-15 edge in the last.

KPA coach Anthony Ojukwu said: "It was a good outing for team KPA. Lots of lessons learned and experience gained. We want to win the league and go represent the county again."

NBA Academy had lost 85-60 to the Tigers but recovered to defeat Urunani 79-69. In the other Group B matches played at the same venue, Ferroviario da Beira of Mozambique hit COSPN of Madagascar 84-53.

COSPN fell 81-83 to Matero Magic of Zambia. In their other games, Magic also fell 63-57 to Ferroviario and 83-73 to City Oilers of Uganda.
