Did a prominent politico play a role in the surprise changes to the Jubilee Party's nominations list? There is suspicion within the corridors of the Senate that the man who enjoys the trappings and reality of power in the Jubilee government may have had a hand in the changes. The politician is said to be keen to have his allies in strategic positions as he seeks to take control and have a bigger say in the political process as the country heads to the 2022 General Election. The politician is said to be keen to build networks across the country. As the impeachment trial of a governor started this week in the Senate, an MP from Northeastern region was celebrating. The legislator was following the proceedings on television from a restaurant within Nairobi’s CBD. He was overheard telling his friends he had warned the governor he would be part of his downfall if he doesn't heed his advice, including how to run the county. The MP went ahead to tell his mates that he played a major role during the nomination and campaign for the county boss.

Employees in the office of a first-term MP from Nyanza region have gone without salaries for three months. The MP who has deserted his constituency for months diverted the salary money to pay the hungry youths who always accompany him to funerals in the neighbouring counties. The broke MP has been hiding from his constituents for many months. The youths have been on his neck with constant calls and threats that they will stop accompanying him again. This reportedly compelled the MP to dip his hands into the salary money. The staff is now not able to pay rent and send their children back to school.

A government agency in the office of the President has failed to live up to its ideals and expectations to ensure there is justice and face of Kenya in government appointments. Top officials of the agency have kept on recruiting and appointing both junior and senior staff from their tribe. Every time a vacancy occurs or contracts are advertised, it is either the chairman of the chief executive officer who will have a relative appointed. Staff in the agency are disheartened that they are preaching water while they are indeed taking wine. Who will put this trend to and end?
