Sidian Bank Chief Executive Officer, Mr. John Okulo hands over Sh2 million cheque to Run 4 Seniors Chairman, Mr Moses Mwangi to support the second edition of Run 4 Seniors scheduled for July 18, 2025 at Karura Forest.
Sidian Bank has committed Sh2 million towards the second edition of Run 4 Seniors, a charity initiative aimed at improving the welfare, healthcare and dignity of vulnerable senior citizens in Kenya.
The funds will support the event organised by Mama Ibado Charity (MIC), which is scheduled to take place on July 18, 2026, at Karura Forest in Nairobi.
The sponsorship adds momentum to efforts aimed at addressing the growing needs of older persons while strengthening partnerships between the corporate sector and organisations working to support the elderly.
Run 4 Seniors seeks to raise awareness and mobilise resources for programmes that address the health, nutrition and social welfare needs of vulnerable senior citizens.

Mama Ibado Charity President Ahmed Jibril welcomed the partnership, saying it demonstrates increasing recognition of the urgent need to invest in the well-being of senior citizens.
“We are delighted to welcome Sidian Bank as a partner in this year’s Run 4 Seniors. Their generous contribution will go a long way in helping us expand our reach and deepen the impact of our programmes for elderly persons across the country. Together, we are sending a powerful message that our seniors matter and deserve to live their later years in dignity, comfort and good health,” said Jibril.
He noted that Kenya’s ageing population continues to grow, creating a greater need for collaborative interventions that address the challenges facing older persons.
“As Kenya’s ageing population continues to grow, there is an increasing need for collaborative efforts that address the challenges facing senior citizens. Partnerships such as this help us bring more attention, care and support to older persons who are too often overlooked,” he said.

Sidian Bank said its support for the initiative aligns with its broader mission of transforming lives and creating lasting impact within communities.
Chief Executive Officer John Okulo said the bank believes strong communities can only be built when all generations are valued and supported.
“At Sidian Bank, we recognise that strong communities are built when every generation is valued and supported. Run 4 Seniors presents an opportunity for us to contribute to a cause that uplifts some of the most vulnerable members of society. We are proud to stand with Mama Ibado Charity in promoting the welfare, dignity and inclusion of senior citizens,” said Okulo.

The upcoming edition builds on the success of the inaugural event and aims to attract more participants while increasing awareness of the challenges facing Kenya’s elderly population.
Participants will compete in 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre and 15-kilometre race categories, all geared towards promoting health, wellness and social impact.
The event also seeks to rally more organisations and individuals behind programmes that support older people, many of whom face challenges related to healthcare access, nutrition and social support.
Mama Ibado Charity, a non-profit organisation registered in Kenya and Canada, runs several programmes dedicated to helping vulnerable senior citizens age with dignity.
Through its Seniors Feeding Programme, Seniors Healthcare Programme and community welfare initiatives, the organisation provides food support, healthcare access and social care to elderly persons, particularly in vulnerable communities in Isiolo and Kakamega counties.
Organisers hope this year’s event will further amplify conversations around elderly welfare while mobilising resources to improve the quality of life for senior citizens across the country.
