Despite being one of the greats in 1500m, breaking the world record in the specialty has elevated Faith Kipyegon into the top five athletes to have dominated every level.

The 29-year old is now one of only five athletes who have dominated at every level in their track and field specialism – an individual world champion at U-18, U-20 and senior level – and set a senior world record.

This club includes only Usain Bolt, Mondo Duplantis, Yelena Isinbaeva, Kevin Mayer and now Kipyegon.

Kipyegon won the under-18 World Championships title in Barcelona 2012 in a time of 4:04.96. A year later, she defended her junior title at the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz.

She won the World Athletics Championships titles in 2017 and 2022.

A two-time back-to-back Olympic champion with the Games record and a two-time World Champion, she is the only woman to win four global 1500m titles and only the second woman to claim consecutive Olympic titles in the event.

Kipyegon became the first woman in history to break the 3:50-barrier in the discipline with her world record of 3:49.11 set on June 2 in Florence.

On the track, she has won or finished second in every major Championships since 2015 and is regarded the greatest female 1500m runner in history.
