The former world under 20 3,00m steeplechase champion Amos Kirui won the 3,000m steeplechase title. Kirui edged out former Commonwealth Games 3,000m steeplechase bronze medalist Abraham Kibiwot and the former world under 20 3,000m silver medalist Leonard Bett for the title.

Kirui, who was the pre-race favorite, won the title in 8:08.45 with Kibiwot coming second in 8:09.71 as Bett completed the podium at 8:10.02.

“This was a tough race that I have encountered this year but I managed to win. I had very strong competitors who kept me on my toes but I managed to win," Kirui said.
