Azimio presidential Candidate Raila Odinga has praised Jackline Chepkoech after her gold win in Commonwealth games.

Chepkoech bagged Kenya's second gold when she clinched the 3000m steeplechase title.

Chepkoech, who is the outgoing world under 20 champion in the water and barrier race clocked 9:15.68 as Elizabeth Bird of Great Britain took silver in 9:17.79.

Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai bagged the bronze in 9:23.24.

Via Twitter on Saturday morning, Raila said he was proud of her.

"Fantastic run in the 3000m by Jackline Chepkoech beating a talented field to bag Kenya our second Gold medal," he said.

"Keep running and keep inspiring our youth. The entire nation is proud of you. Kudos!"

DP William Ruto also praised her for the good run.

"Congratulations Jackline Chepkoech for clinching Kenya's second gold in the Women's Steeplechase at the Commonwealth games. You are a true champion and wonderful ambassador of our nation," he said.
