World silver 800 m silver medallist Mary Moraa has bagged the Commonwealth title in her specialty in Birmingham.
Moraa came from behind to snatch victory, clocking1:57:07 to edge out Great Britain's Kelly Hodkingson in 1:57.40 second place as as Laura Muir took bronze in 1:57.87.
Moraa had led from the front and hit the bell at 55.6. However, she seemed to fade away to last before she rediscovered her late surge to win the country's fourth gold medal at the championships.
Team Kenya, however, missed out on the 5,000m title but still secured silver and bronze through Nicholas Kimeli and Jacob Krop respectively.
Kimeli clocked 13:08.19 as Krop returned 13:08.48. The gold medal went to Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo who completed a double after winning the 10,000m title earlier in the week.
Kiplimo unleashed a devastating final kick with 50m to go to post 13:08.48, a season best.
Former world 1500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot had to settle for silver in the men's race as Abel Kipsang missed out on the podium altogether.
Cheruiyot clocked 3:30.21 behind Australian Oliver Hoare, who timed 3:30.12 for the title with home favourite and world champion Jake Wightman taking bronze in 3:30.53.
