The outgoing chairman and council members of the Institute of Human Resource Management on Thursday officially handed over the instruments of power to the new team.
In a function held at a hotel in Nairobi and attended by the Principal secretary, state department for public service Mary Kimonye, Odero Philip Dalmas officially assumed the office of IHRM council chair.
He took over from Joseph Vincent Onyango who served the council for the last three years.
Odero was elected IHRM council chair during elections conducted for the position of National Chairman and two Council Members in May 2022.
John Mwanzia is the incoming council representative Coast/Eastern Region and Beatrice Cherotich Bii will be representing Rift Valley.
The group assumed office following their gazettement on July 7 2022 in a notice published on July 15.
In his acceptance speech of the new role, Odero pledged drastic reforms and top-notch service delivery to members.
In a bid to make a difference, Odero said top on his priority is fast-tracking the Review of the HRMP Act Amendment to enable effective implementation of the Act.
"The process of this review has been long and winding but I promise to work with other stakeholders and the relevant parliamentary committee to complete the process," Odero said.
He expressed commitment to working with the parent Ministry, The Ministry of Public Service and other stakeholders, to review the necessary policies and regulations that will make the HR department report directly to the executive.
Odero said the HR professional ought to be proactive in reviewing the reporting lines within our corporates in order to onboard the human attribute in the future of the place of work.
"If our management philosophy will not address this lacuna, technological advancement which has introduced robotics and Artificial Intelligence will forever remain incomplete without human intervention to complete the reporting cycle," he said.
He said he will decentralize provisions of some services to regional offices by opening physical regional offices that will double up as offices of regional representatives and offices for branch officials.
The IHRM council chair said he will also promote member participation by reviewing the committee composition to bring onboard vibrant skills and talents to serve members.
