Murang'a Seal seek to extend their six-game unbeaten run when they square off against Nairobi United this afternoon in the 2025/26 SportPesa League at the Kasarani Annexe from 4 pm.
Currently, the Murang’a-based outfit are unbeaten in their last six league matches.
Their unbeaten run started on October 30, where they battled to a 2-2 draw against Posta Rangers before grinding out a hard-fought 2-1 win over KCB on November 2.
They followed that up with back-to-back draws against Kakamega Homeboyz (1-1), AFC Leopards (0-0) and Shabana (1-1).
Their most recent league assignment also ended in a barren stalemate against Kariobangi Sharks at St Sebastian Park on November 30.
Before their unbeaten run, Seal had endured a bruising October, slumping to a three-match losing streak after falling 3-1 to Bandari on October 4, 2-1 to Sofapaka on October 15 and 1-0 to Tusker on October 26.
However, since that rough spell, Seal appear to have found a new edge to their game, stringing together a spirited unbeaten run.
Despite that steady run, Seal are still grappling to claw their way out of the relegation zone, sitting 17th on the log with just 11 points, just three clear of bottom-placed Kariobangi Sharks.
However, Murang’a Seal head coach Osborne Monday insists his side’s current form is a strong indicator of better days ahead.
“The results are very positive for me, considering the way I found the boys when I arrived. They were in another state,” Monday said.
Ahead of the Nairobi showdown, Monday remains bullish and upbeat. “As a coach, I am very optimistic and expect a good display from our boys.”
The tactician underlined the steady growth he has witnessed since taking charge.
“The boys are growing; they are building up in terms of playing football and learning a lot of good stuff in terms of tactical play.”
He believes it is only a matter of time before the team begins stringing together back-to-back wins. “It’s just a matter of time, and we will start getting wins,” he added.
One of the players Monday will be banking on against Nairobi United is John Kiplangat, who he believes carries the kind of experience needed to steady and guide the youngsters.
“When Kiplagat is in the team, he inspires the younger players. He is one of our most valuable players on the pitch.”
“A lot of our players are young, and they need proper guidance on the pitch in terms of playing football,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nairobi United head into the clash desperate to rediscover their rhythm.
Naibois are currently on a two-game losing streak, having fallen to Mathare United (1-0) and most recently to Posta Rangers, where Jackson Dwang and Brian Otieno’s strikes secured all three points for the Mailmen.
