A field of 96 players is set for the Nairobi Darts Masters, organised by Sirua Darts Group, on December 5–6 at the Broadwalk Mall Ballroom.

The two-day tournament will feature four categories: the Masters, Ladies, Junior and University competitions.

The tournament boasts a Sh1.3 million prize purse, with the Masters champion banking Sh260,000. The Ladies’ winner will pocket Sh50,000, while the Junior victor takes home Sh20,000.

Sirua Darts Group director Dan Karori said 32 players have already qualified for the Masters event.

“We have 32 who have already earned points for the Masters. Of the 96 total players, 64 slots are reserved for Kenyan players,” he said.

Sixteen slots have been allocated to international players from South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Tanzania, and Switzerland, a move expected to raise the competitive bar. “We have a good number of 16 foreigners participating,” Karori added.

Among the Kenyan stars to watch are David Munyua, the nation’s top-ranked player, alongside Manpreet Kalsi and Aryan Khalsa.

The Ladies’ event features 48 players, with only 10 seeded, leaving 38 slots open to competitors from neighbouring countries. The Junior (U-15) category has 15 seeded players and 17 open slots for visiting talent. The University competition, currently with 40 registered players, will be capped at 48.

Karori said the Sirua Darts Group plans to launch a University Darts Challenge Cup next year, targeting a 256-player entry list to strengthen grassroots competition. “It will be an exciting showcase to see who lifts the Nairobi Darts Masters trophy,” he said.

Kenya Darts Association chairman Wilson Githae said the sport is on the rise again.

“Darts is one of the biggest sports in the world, and stakeholders here are working hard to emulate the success of past players. With professionals now competing abroad, the future of Kenyan darts looks bright.”

All matches will be streamed live on the Sirua Darts Group YouTube channel, and the organisers are open to media partnerships.
