Athletics Kenya (AK) has resumed the nationwide registration of training camps, coaches, medical staff and athlete support personnel following a brief suspension during the World Championships in Tokyo.
The exercise, which began on August 12, aims to streamline and regulate the operations of athletics camps across the country. AK says the process is essential for creating a safe, professional and accountable environment for athletes.
Registration resumed today in Narok and Kilgoris, with the AK team expected to cover the towns through Thursday. The exercise will then move to Nyanza South and Nyanza North from October 11 to 18. In Nyanza North, registration will take place in Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya counties.
In Nyanza South, the team will cover Nyamira, Kisii and Migori counties.
The next phases will see the registration team visit the North Eastern and Eastern regions from October 27 to 29, the Southern and Coast regions from October 30 to November 3, the Central Rift from November 5 to 10, the North Rift from November 11 to 15 and the Western region from November 17 to 20. The exercise will conclude with universities on November 21 and 22.
So far, AK has completed registration in South Rift, Nairobi, Central, the National Police Service, Prisons and the Kenya Defence Forces.
AK said coaches are required to present a valid coaching certificate and a police clearance certificate. Medical staff must provide professional licences alongside a police clearance certificate, while support staff, such as administrators, nutritionists and physiotherapists, are also required to submit credentials in their fields as well as police clearance.
Foreigners involved in any role must hold a valid work permit.
