
They have been in dominant form at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) / Confederation of Africa Tennis in Dar Es Salaam, reaching the finals in boys' and girls' categories.
Coach Caroline Oduor said: "I'm satisfied with the performance of both teams since we started. We have been consistent, and now we look ahead to the continental event, which will be tougher.”
She said the best is yet to come from the six-man team.
“At the conclusion of the tournament, we go back to home to rest and look at areas where we can improve and be at our best for the continental showdown, where we expect to face tougher opposition," said Oduor.
In the boys' category, Kenya topped their group after beating Rwanda in their opening match 3-0. Indiatsi Olembo made light work of Bimemnyima Kiama 6-0 6-3 while Muyanze Kiahi defeated Response Dushime 7-5 6-1 .
In the doubles, Fidel Nyabera and Olembo won 6-3 6-1 against Dushime and Shalom Irampumuye.
The boys, who are seeded second, thrashed Seychelles 3-0 with Kahi defeating James Moustouche 6-1 6-0 while Nyabera saw off the challenge of Nelson Cupidon 6-0 6-0.
Kahi and Olembo teaming up in the doubles to edge Dylan Laporte and Moustouche 6-2 6-0 in the doubles category.
The boys extended their fine form with a 3-0 win over Uganda. Kahi trashed Mason Michio 6-0 6-0, while Olembo beat Nicholas Malwaya 6-0 6-4
Olembo and Fidel Castro beat Nicholas Malwaya and Sankara Tumusiime 7-5 6-0.
The girls' beat Uganda 3-0 too as Naila Gikunda outclassed Heidi Kayessu 6-0 6-0 and Maria Orendo beat Amana Ssenyomo 6-0 6-1.
Gikunda and Orendo proved too strong in the doubles, overpowering Hanana Babaya and Ssenyomo 6-0 6-3.
In their subsequent match Kenya edged Rwanda 3-0 and Burundi 3-0. Ethiopia, Burundi and Comoros are the other countries taking part in the competition.
